About Mystic Dance Circle
Adrienne Sofia Rose dreamed about a dance community that was welcoming, celebrated self-expression, spiritual exploration and unity. She also wanted to explore the circle dances from various cultures and help others connect with the cultural dances of their ancestors. Building on her 15 years of belly dance and Middle Eastern dance experience, she founded Mystic Dance Circle with a focus on belly dance and creative movement inspired by many cultures all over the world. In January of 2025, Adrienne Sofia Rose and her company Dream Circle Studio LLC founded Mystic Dance Circle to explore creative movement and spiritual expression. Mystic Dance Circle has grown into a welcoming dance community that provides a safe place for self-expression, self-examination, spiritual exploration, and celebrating various international cultures through creative movement.
The dance circle currently meets once a month and will expand to twice a month gatherings in January 2027. Workshops are also planned in near future. Some circle gatherings and workshops may focus on a specific theme or dance form. Circle dance themes and workshops will be posted on the website.
Monthly Dance Circles
Community and the joy of dance are the heart of our circles. The dance circle welcomes all to connect in creative movement and dance our intentions and emotions. Dancers of all experience levels are welcome, from absolute beginner to professional. The dances are a mix of belly dance and creative movement inspired by the circle dances and music of many cultures around the world. Adrienne Sofia Rose provides a short combination of suggested movements before each song. Dancers can follow the suggested combinations or move as they are inspired. An altar is set for intentions. This altar embraces all spiritual paths, secular positive energy, and is a special holding place for our intentions. Circle members set intentions and dance them. Choreographies may also be practiced after circle if we have any upcoming performances.
Mystic Dance Circle currently meets once a month. Mystic Dance Circle partners with Witches of West Michigan (WOWMI) to hold dance circles on the fourth Sunday of each month. Dance circle gatherings are held at Armentality Arts Center in the Grand Rapids Masonic Center in downtown Grand Rapids, Michigan on the fourth Sundays of each month at 1:15-3 pm.
In January 2027, Mystic Dance Circle will also hold dance circles on the second Sunday of each month. Check back soon for more details. Come join us at one of our circle gatherings! All are welcome and the circle is always open.
Performances
The monthly circle gatherings where we set intentions and circle dance are the main focus of Mystic Dance Circle. However, we do also perform choreographies at events. Performance is optional. All circle members, regardless of previous dance experience, are welcome to both perform and dance at circle gatherings. It is a lot of fun!

A Welcoming, Affirming and Inclusive Community
Community is just as important as dance in Mystic Dance Circle. The circle is a safe place for self-expression, spiritual exploration, and connection. People may come to enjoy dancing with freedom. Others may come for fun community. Some also come to be held by the healing connections of the circle. It is possible to work on self-healing, but still be respectful of others. Mystic Dance Circle welcomes everyone as long as people come into the circle with respect, love and kindness toward other circle members. Everyone is welcome regardless of religious affiliation, race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, neurotype, age, background, or disability. This is a welcoming, affirming and inclusive community for all women, people of color, Indigenous, LGBTQ+, immigrant, and other minority communities. No hateful, bigoted, or discriminatory attitudes or actions will ever be allowed into the circle. The safety of members and sacredness of the circle are always protected.
